Personalisation Department
We are committed to getting to know each student individually and personalising their learning journey. That's why our Special Educational Needs (SEND) provision is called "The Personalisation Department."
We offer support across four key areas:
- Communication and Interaction (Speech, Language, and Communication Needs - SLCN)
- Cognition and Learning
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Sensory and/or Physical Needs

How does FCGS provide Personalisation for our students?
Every Student Matters
We provide personalised learning for our diverse student population, which includes students who are able, vulnerable, have SEND, and EAL learners. We believe personalisation is essential for all students to make the best possible progress.
Our Three-Tiered Support System
Student support is delivered through three main levels:
- Universal (ALL): High-quality support and teaching for every student. (This is our key focus for improving progress across all groups.)
- Targeted (SOME): Specific interventions for students needing focused help.
- Specialist (INDIVIDUAL): Highly individualised support for complex needs.
This system is overseen by the Head of Personalisation (SENCo), Deputy SENCo, and our Pastoral Team.
If a student isn't making progress with our Universal Support, we implement a structured process called the Graduated Approach.
This means we move systematically to offer:
- Targeted Support: Focused interventions.
- Specialist Support: Highly individualised provision.
We keep you informed! You and your child/ward will be fully involved and updated at every stage of this process.
Our support adheres to equalities law and the official government guidance outlined in the SEND Code of Practice (0-25 years).

For more detail on how we identify and support learning differences, please read our SEND Information Report.
We work with first-aiders, the school nursing team, parents, students and the pastoral team to support all students with medical needs in line with government guidance. If your child/ward has a medical condition and needs medication or adjustments in school, please read our Medical Needs Policy and contact the SENCO, Ms Chaer.
We understand that many students may face challenges with their mental health and well-being during their school years. These difficulties can affect a young person’s ability to regulate emotions, socialise, or may involve more severe mental ill-health.
At Fulham Cross Girls’ School, our priority is to:
- Promote positive mental health for every student and staff member.
- Provide support for anyone who is currently struggling with their well-being.
If English is not your child's first language, we provide dedicated support to help them learn English quickly and access all lessons.
How We Help:
- Assessment: Our specialised department assesses your child's English level.
- Extra Lessons: If needed, we provide additional English teaching in dedicated extra lessons.
- Classroom Support: We help class teachers adjust lessons, so your child can understand the content.
- Tools: We can offer a laptop for immediate translation needs.
- Targeted Practice: Your child will receive specific homework and tasks to rapidly develop their English skills.
